    4th European Ecotourism Conference

    The 4th European Ecotourism Conference will be held in Safranbolu, Turkey from April 17th to 18th 2017. The conference will bring together 300 professionals. Safranbolu Tourism Faculty at Karabük University will host the conference with the partnership of General Directorate of Nature Conservation and National Parks at Ministry of Forestry and Water Affairs. With a focus on promoting the role of ecotourism in sustainable development, the two-day Conference aims to make a contribution to the UNWTO's 2017 International Year of Sustainable Tourism for Development.
    The chief objective of the Conference is to provide a platform for industry stakeholders; researchers, academicians, practitioners, as well as industrial professionals throughout the continent and beyond to present their research results and development activities on ecotourism. This conference will also provide the delegates with the opportunities to exchange new ideas and application experiences in person.

    Safranbolu is a UNESCO World Heritage Site. The city was declared as a heritage site in 1994 for its key role in the caravan trade extending over many centuries.

    IV Seminário de Turismo em Áreas Protegidas da Amazônia

    O IV Seminário de Turismo em Áreas Protegidas da Amazônia está sendo organizado pelo ICMBio por meio da cooperação técnica com o Serviço Florestal dos Estados Unidos (USFS) e apoio financeiro da Agência de Desenvolvimento Internacional dos Estados Unidos (USAID), dentro do programa “Parceria para Conservação da Biodiversidade na Amazônia”, estabelecido entre o governo brasileiro e o governo dos Estados Unidos.

    Na sua quarta edição, em parceria com a Universidade do Estado do Amazonas e Universidade do Estado do Colorado o Seminário traz a Manaus, cidade que vai receber o evento neste ano, um conjunto de palestrantes internacionais e nacionais para dialogar a respeito de importantes temas para a ampliação da oferta turística de qualidade nos estados da Amazônia. Serão discutidos temas como; a diversificação do uso público, trilhas aquáticas, pesca esportiva e turismo de base comunitária (TBC), apresentando estudos de caso internacionais e mesas redondas com gestores de unidades de conservação, pesquisadores, operadores turísticos e comunitários.

    Os objetivos são:

    • Fomentar o desenvolvimento do turismo na Amazônia;
    • Gerar debate quanto à diversificação de atividades de uso público nas unidades de conservação da Amazônia, focando em temas como trilhas aquáticas, pesca esportiva e turismo de base comunitária
    • Desenvolver parcerias com a iniciativa privada, comunidades, instituições governamentais e organizações não governamentais (ONGs)
    • Discutir os desafios da implantação de atividades de uso público na região amazônica.

    3rd International Congress on Ethics and Tourism

    The 3rd International Congress on Ethics and Tourism aims to explore ways in which the tourism sector can harness the principles of sustainability, shared responsibility and accountability of all stakeholders in developing tourism infrastructure, products and services. It will further showcase good practices of private-public cooperation through policies and strategies based on human rights, transparency and good governance which also takes into account the voice of civil society.

    The Congress will draw particular attention to the following aspects: a) inclusive tourism and universal accessibility for the benefit of all groups of population and the industry’s competitiveness; b) management of natural and cultural heritage amidst the growing tourist numbers and conservation concerns; and, c) corporate social responsibility which not only fosters the implementation of the SDGs across the tourism supply chain, but also contributes to innovation and the overall service quality.

    Participants

    The Congress is aiming to gather an international audience comprised of policy makers, officials of national tourism administrations, representatives of travel and tourism companies and trade associations, representatives of international organizations, non-governmental organizations and civil society bodies, as well as academics and media outlets engaged in the issues of sustainable development and ethical business practices.
